This week our Women in Business feature comes from This week our Women in Business feature comes from the passionately talented, Casey Boshae Williams, owner of @thegentlepit. As dog lovers ourselves, we loved learning how Casey took a passion & turned it into a profitable business that gives back in major ways!⁠ ⁠ For those of you who don't know, The Gentle Pit is a lifestyle brand that supports animal rescue. They sell on-trend loungewear and lifestyle goods + give back a percentage of each purchase to animal rescues and rescue pups in need.⁠ ⁠ Casey started The Gentle Pit three years ago to scratch her own itch (no pun intended). She was passionate about helping dogs, but frustrated by the lack of high quality, on-trend apparel & jewelry that supported rescue organizations. Casey created a few pieces to personally wear & the business snowballed from there. To date, @thegentlepit has customers in all 50 states and 5 countries! ⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ ✨Casey's advice to anyone new to starting a business —⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ ① It may seem like everyone has overnight success, don't buy in to that myth. The brands that last the longest are the one's that took the time to grow slowly, develop great products and manage their finances well. Look at any large company you admire and I'd bet that most of them have been around, hustling in the background for at least 7+ years before you first noticed them. It's not glamorous, but growing slowly and having a healthy business is so worth it!⁠ ⠀⠀⁠ ② Mentors are all around you, and usually for free, if you do the work to look. I'm constantly listening to podcasts, reading trade articles and doing deep Instagram dives on company founders that I admire. You can learn so much about how to start & grow your business if you pay attention to the little wisdom nuggets that these resources dole out. Everything from how to do a product photo shoot to how to formulating a great company culture. With a willingness to learn, you can start to piece together your own Masterclass on how to run your own business.⁠ ⁠ THANK YOU Casey for sharing some insight into how you started @thegentlepit & your love for our furry friends!

Do you listen to music while you work or are you a silent & focused kind of gal? 🎶⁠ ⁠ I used to only work in silence as I found music to be distracting. But slowly over the past year I've found myself enjoying a little background tunes. I typically turn on some feel good vibe playlists from Spotify (mostly oldies), maybe a little classic rock, ZBB or Stevie Wonder if I'm wrapping up the day. Not going to lie though, ever since doing this @koolaburra shoot at @thebeachlodge and playing Leon Bridges, I'm totally digging his sound!⁠ ⁠ So tell us below if you listen to any music, and if so, what kind of tunes help you get through the work day.
